MOSCOW, 10 December (BelTA) – The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) participating states expect a breakthrough during Belarus' presidency in the organization, Member of the Board (Minister) for Industry and Agribusiness Complex of the Eurasian Economic Commission Aleksandr Subbotin told reporters on the sidelines of the conference in Moscow timed to the 20th anniversary of the Union State Treaty, BelTA has learned.

In 2020 Belarus' representative will chair the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission. The country will also preside over various agencies within the EAEU.

“Belarus is expected to make a breakthrough, because Belarus has an air of an advanced country that always tries to make good things even better,” Aleksandr Subbotin said.

According to him, Belarus' major task during its presidency is to implement everything that was laid down in the EAEU Treaty and the tasks formalized in the Eurasian integration strategy. “These are four major freedoms: the freedom of movement, the freedom of goods and services, the freedom of capital and the freedom of workforce. All other things are tactical tasks that depend on the fulfillment of these fundamental objectives,” Aleksandr Subbotin said.

The minister added that the EAEU mid-term development program is in the works now. The program is to be discussed at the meeting of the leaders of the EAEU states in Saint Petersburg on 20 December.
