Belarus' CEC: 70 observers sent away due to law violations

Seventy observers were removed from the polling stations at the elections to the House of Representatives due to the breach of legislation, CEC head Lidia Yermoshina said.

Belarusian Parliament to elect speakers on 6 December

Both houses of the parliament will convene for the sessions on this day, 6 December. The main item on the agenda will be the election of the speakers. The MPs will also elect vice speakers, chairmen of permanent commissions, and also form the Council of the House of Representatives and the Presidium of the Council of the Republic.

Total oversight of observers over parliamentary elections in Belarus emphasized

The head of the Belarusian election organization agency pointed out that some 39,000 domestic observers and 1,030 international ones had been accredited to monitor the elections. “In other words, the elections were monitored as closely as possible,” Lidia Yermoshina said.

The 110 members of the House of Representatives were elected. Members of political parties comprise 19.1% of the new parliament (21 people). The previous parliament had 16 representatives of political parties.

The CEC responded to the interim report published by observers representing the OSCE ODIHR, OSCE PA and PACE. “We have articulated our position and sent objections to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” Lidia Yermoshina said.
