Topical matters of Belarus-Ukraine trade and economic cooperation were discussed, including the application of measures designed to protect the domestic market. Belarus' accession to the WTO was mentioned as well.
Thanks to the parliamentary friendship group, the cooperation between Belarus and Switzerland has been significantly intensified, Swiss Ambassador to Belarus Claude Altermatt said during a meeting with FTUB chairman, co-chair of the parliamentary friendship group Switzerland-Belarus Mikhail Orda.
“A constant dialogue between experts and also the one at the highest level is necessary for further efficient development of bilateral contacts,” Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to Belarus Georgi Vasilev said.
Brexit gives us an excellent opportunity to cultivate relations with a lot of countries. I believe we will continue cooperating with the European Union because we are leaving the EU but not Europe. This is why I look forward to good relations with all countries, including Belarus, the ambassador said.
A total of 120 applications to register initiative groups were submitted in Minsk, 73 in Minsk Oblast, 59 in Mogilev Oblast, 54 in Brest Oblast, 49 in Vitebsk Oblast, 47 in Gomel Oblast, and 44 in Grodno Oblast.
“I am convinced that the working group headed by the economy ministers of Belarus and Russia will consider all issues carefully, within the framework of practical interdepartmental cooperation. The parties will accommodate each other where possible,” the head of the Russian diplomatic mission said.
The needs assessment mission worked in Belarus in August. “They've shared their report with us. The report indicates that the mission recommends that the OSCE ODIHR should send a mission of 30 long-term observers and 400 short-term observers,” Lidia Yermoshina said.
The agreements were in focus of a meeting between Belarus Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to Russia with concurrent accreditation to Belarus Alemayehu Tegenu on 12 September.
