MINSK, 6 November (BelTA) – The fourth round of political consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs of Belarus and Qatar took place in Minsk on 5 November, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Belarusian delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas; the Qatari delegation was led by Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmad Hassan al-Hammadi. The parties discussed the bilateral agenda, reviewed the state and prospects of the Belarus-Qatar relations, including a dialogue at the highest and high levels.

“Top on the agenda was the opening of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Minsk. The diplomatic mission will start operating in the near future. Two Qatari diplomats have already arrived in Belarus to open the embassy,” the press service informed.

The Belarusian and Qatari diplomats discussed ways to scale up bilateral trade and investment, as well as exchange of business delegations. They agreed that these and other issues should be discussed in more detail during the next meeting of the joint intergovernmental cooperation commission scheduled for next year.

In addition, the leaders of the Belarusian and Qatari delegations exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East and the European region, and discussed the interaction of the two states in the United Nations and other multilateral international organizations.
