The Vitebsk Snowflake is a prestigious international event, Belarus' oldest dance competition. The event boasts a very high level of participation as it draws the world's best dancers that are in Top 50 of the international ranking.

CIS space council to convene in Minsk on 22-23 January

Belarusian scientists design world's first all-season atmospheric lidar

The official said: “This year we've finished the development of a container-type atmospheric lidar. It is supposed to be shipped to Antarctica at the end of the year. The device will help our scientists study the atmosphere. It will be the world's first all-season lidar."

Belarus wins 23 medals at Zhautykov Olympiad in Kazakhstan

All in all the 16th International Zhautykov Olympiad featured 84 teams of 622 participants from 20 countries. Team Belarus included 26 students who won 23 medals: six golds, six silvers, and eleven bronzes.
Recovered 500-year-old sword on display in Mogilev

The Mogilev History Museum has arranged a presentation of a 500-year-old sword which was discovered together with knight's armor in the Vikhra River in Mstislavl District in 2013. The finds date back to the late 15th century – early 16th century.
Minsk National Airport passenger traffic up by 12.5% in 2019

Last year Minsk National Airport handled 28,417 flights, which was up 8.9% from 2018. A total of 2,253 flights took off at the airport last December, up 4.6% from the same period in 2018.

Organizing committee set up for Belarus-Russia Forum of Regions

In 2020 the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia will be hosted by Minsk and Minsk Oblast. The forum will traditionally feature a plenary session, panel discussions, a session of the interparliamentary commission for interregional cooperation.

Belarus and Latvia will strengthen relations as they co-host the IIHF World Championship, Belarus Prime Minister Sergei Rumas said at a joint meeting of the Belarusian and Latvian organizing committees for the 2021 IIHF World Championship.
