GRODNO, 20 November (BelTA) - Belarusian health resorts have been growing more popular with foreign customers. One of the reasons is visa-free entry. The number of such holidaymakers in the health resorts of Grodno Oblast has already exceeded 2,000, Anatoly Gonchar, head of the Grodno regional office of the Belarusian national center of health resort treatment and recuperation, told BelTA.
Foreign customers are attracted by high-quality services and affordable prices. Decree No. 300 on the rules of entry and exit of foreign nationals came into force on 10 November. In line with the decree, foreigners traveling on group tours along specified travel routes can stay in Grodno Oblast visa-free for up to 15 days. All 10 health resorts of Grodno Oblast have become available for visa-free tourists. Previously it was only 4 medical spas located near Grodno who could accommodate visa-free customers.
On 20 November, Energetik health resort celebrated 2,000th visa-free tourist - Krzysztof Chlewinski from the city of Plock, Poland. He came together with a friend. The man said he has been holidaying in Belarusian health resorts for many years. Earlier, he had to apply for a visa. With the expansion of the visa-free zone, holidays in Belarus, according to him, have become even more attractive.
“It is important that the period of visa-free stay has been extended to 15 days. In case of health resorts this is a good opportunity to have a full course of medical treatment,” said Anatoly Gonchar. He added that the jubilee tourist, for example, will stay in the health resort for 14 days.
With the visa-free zone extended, the interest among foreigners in health centers has increased. Since 10 November, more foreign customers have booked places in the health resorts.
In January-September 2019, the local health resorts reported a 7% increase in the export of services. Revenue in the period under review rose from Br19 million to Br21 million. Visa-free tourists were also a contributor to the growth. With the increase in the number of health resorts available for visa-free customers, the flow of holidaymakers will only increase, Anatoly Gonchar said.
